I'm leaning toward a Chally R/T for my first car, and must find the right color.
I'm a fan of Plum Crazy myself. This might be the only purple car that a man can drive.
Classic HEMI Orange
Sub lime
B5 Blue
Torred
I'm not a fan of the anonymous Black, white, or silver, but black with red stripes does score some points for "sinister."

Y u no Jazz blue? (I'll admit it looks better on the Charger though)

Challenger R/T for your first car? Must be nice.

Ehhh not vibrant enough for my tastes, but that just be my sub-23 year old self.

My first choice would be sub lime, although I've heard quite a few girls (and some guys) refer to that color as "douchey". If you don't care about that then go for it, otherwise my second choice would be the B5 blue.

Cop magnet orange.

Cop magnet red.
Cop magnet black and red.

I kinda liked the Green with Envy Challengers. (the wheel style is called the 'Envy' wheel.)
Might even look better with the painted parts of the wheel in bronze... bronze wheels look good on Challengers.
Your deal is yours... but Challenger is a LOT of car for a new driver, both in terms of power in the V8 models, and in terms of weight in ALL models. If things go wrong, inertia (see Newton's laws of motion) being a law of physics, makes more massive things go wrong 'bigger.' I have no idea where you are, geographically, but if you see snow or ice... that becomes all the more likely.

Orange.
Next question.

Plum Crazy Purple!

Thats a bit too over the top right there. I would make everyone socially uncomfortable, both inside and out of the car.
However, a woman driving that...

Plum purple all the way.

Torred. Everyone knows red is the fastest color and every square foot covered adds the horsepower equivalent of a riced out accord to your car.
Proof:
Fastest ace to the grave
This one even has flames coming out to go even faster
Even works on pizzas; bakes the fastest
And remember James? He was so fast he crashed his first day. Choo Choo motherfucker

Well it's lighter than my moms car, but that's FWD.

My friend has Hemi Orange on his SRT-8, it really grew on me. Plum crazy purple and hemi orange are the best. The black is alright. It's a shame the Challenger lacks a nice blue, the B5 is the wrong shade, it makes the car look HUGE. Green is...interesting. I was never a huge fan of the R/T stripes either.

And on the note of purple cars men can drive...
![]() 03/10/2015 at 19:27 |

Your first car? Speaking as a father, that might be a bit too much power for a new driver. Work your way up to that Hemi. (But the black with red stripes is the way to go)

Challengers are usually around or above 4000lbs... not many FWD cars other than CUVs are that heavy. The platform is mostly the same that underpins the 300C and Charger full-size sedans. They are typically heavier than mid-to-full-size Camaros, CTS coupe, Mustang, Infiniti G37/Q60-whatever, Genesis Coupe, and other RWD coupes.
An R/T 5.4L V8 can certainly make that mass move... but that makes reaction time and braking distances all the more important... and RWD oversteer is something that can be dangerous even with a lot of driving experience.
Just something to be aware of.

I'd definitely HEMI Orange. It has always been my favorite color on the Challenger. If that doesn't do it for you, then Plum Crazy would definitely be my second choice.

Something subtle! I had a hemi orange chally SRT8 and I got pulled over 9 times in one year just because I had a hemi orange challenger SRT8. I was never speeding or doing anything crazy. Just drived by a cop with the cruise set 2mph UNDER the limit and got pulled over every single time.

My daughter went Plum Crazy for this one.

As someone who had a Fox-Body mustang as a first car. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BE CAREFUL. Seriousily, being 16 and having a fast car is a bad combination. I am shocked I didn't kill myself in that car. Have fun but be careful.
You should try to sign up for one of these events. If I had kids this would definitely be super high on the "before you can drive on your" list.

EDIT: Sub lime, definitely Sub lime. Don't get orange or black. Most of the challengers I see are one of those colors.

A Plum Crazy 1973 was what got me to fall in love with Challengers. I stared at it for years as I was driven/drove to school. It got bought, eventually, even with body rust.

I'd say green because it doesn't have any stupid stripes. And because Hellcat. Those ruin the shape of the car for me, but it's your choice.

Plum crazy is my fav. I have thought about repainting my hemi grocery better plum crazy.

That hot pink is amazing. Would rather the stripes and wheels be black, but the base color can stay.
I also dig this:

Plum Crazy hands down, looks by far the best in person, and..around where I am at least, it's a rare color for them.

Depends on whether you care about resale value. If you don't then go crazy with purple or green. If not go black or blue. PS I think the orange is horrible, I had a coworker with an orange SRT8 it got old quick.

I prefer mine in black. Get ready to receive a lot of attention, which I think a wild color would only make worse. I'm shocked at how people react to my car like it's a Ferrari or something. People, it's in the same price range as a loaded-up Sonata.

This. I switched my trac control off the other day to lay some rubber and about went sideways when I hit third gear. Mine is an 09 with the plus/minus 400 HP 5.7. I cannot IMAGINE the level of uncontrol you would have over a Hellcat with nearly double the power.
